Amal Clooney enters Rich List of Top 1000 in UK and Ireland

Amal Clooney has brought £1m to the £121m fortune that she shares with husband George, a combined total which puts the couple into 790th place in the Sunday Times Rich List that was published yesterday.

The Sunday Times citation says: 'Her career as a high-powered lawyer adds £1m to the fortune. They bought a £10m manor house near Sonning in Berkshire last October.' The listing of the couple, a 'new entry' for 2015, raises much interest among the Sunday Times journalists who dwell at some length on the 'actor and his wife...[who] married in Venice last September'.

The Jaws of the legal profession

Also prominent in the back-up pages to the listing is divorce lawyer Raymond Tooth, of Sears Tooth, described as a 'fearsome lawyer, Britain's top divorce lawyer'. He does not appear in the listing himself but is described as someonne who has helped increase and reduce the fortunes of clients and their exes. A larger than life character, he is photographed with a large cigar and a hat in the shape of a shark - a move which is explained by the editorial which reveals that his 'nickname is Jaws'. He is quoted as saying that arguments between parting couple sometimes go 'down to the spoons, even'. A list of 'biggest divorce payouts' puts Stavica Eccleston (£740m) in first place, followed by Jamie Cooper Hohn (£337m).  Source: Sunday Times
