Apple caught in fresh patent lawsuit

A technology group part owned by manufacturing giants Sony and Phillips has launched a lawsuit against Cupertino-based Apple claiming that the iPhone maker has infringed 15 of its patents.

The legal action launched by Silicon Valley-based Intertrust Technologies – a 1990 private joint venture between Sony, Philips and financial firm Stephens Inc – pertains to several Apple products including the iPhone, iPad, Mac computers, iTunes, the App Store and other technologies, reports Business Week.
Apple has so far declined to comment on the lawsuit which was filed in the US District Court in the Northern District of California.
