Barrister and ex-UK First Lady Cherie Blair to join Renault board

Using her married, rather than professional name, Cherie Blair, wife of former UK prime minister Tony Blair, is joining the board of the French car-maker for a four-year term.

Cherie Blair is to take a seat on the board of Renault Featureflash

Now 60, she stepped down from Matrix Chambers - which she co-founded - last Autumn. She has her own consultancy, Omnia which is described as 'A pioneering international law firm that provides strategic counsel to governments, corporates & private clients'. Mrs Blair - particularly when known as Cherie Booth - is known for her work in international dispute resolution, an aspect of her experience which could appeal to the motor manufacturer. She is due to be approved, if the shareholders agree, at the annual general meeting at the end of April. Sources: Financial Times and Omnia
