Brexit helps Australian law firms attract more local talent

Australian law firms are having a wider choice of home grown talent thanks to Brexit.

Latest data from legal recruitment specialists Taylor Root revealed that 70 per cent of law firms have increased lawyer headcount in the past 12 year with the same number predicting futher growth in the next 12 months. The researchers also pointed out that it was also likely that fewer Australian lawyers would make the move to the UK or Europe in the medium term, as Brexit negotiations create uncertainty about the legal landscape in the coming years.

Increase in salaries

On the remuneration front, Taylor Root’s data also revealed that most firms are expected to make increases of 4-7 per cent and an increase in bonuses of between 1-10 per cent this year.
