Casetext has rolled out three major updates to Case Analysis Research Assistant (CARA), its legal research platform. CARA will now be able to analyse any type of legal document to help 'contextual' searches for relevant legal cases

Three updates
The firm has updated design and architecture to make the site faster, cleaner and easier to use, but more importantly CARA can now with any type of litigation document and has been integrated into Casetext’s standard legal research workflow. The new integration means CARA can be used to enhance keyword queries and deliver results more closely matched to the facts and issues at hand.

Contextualising queries
Founded by a team of former litigators, PhD data scientists and leading AI engineers in 2016,  the American Association of Law Libraries named it the 2017 new product of the year in 2017. Originally based on citations for conducting research, the product now works with keywords irrespective of citations. Casetext states its mission is to 'help legal researchers find the best cases, faster, including many that they would otherwise miss,' and the new release of CARA takes users another step forward in research by analysing documents and contextualising queries to the facts and legal arguments the document contains.
