China approves Nokia sale to Microsoft

Chinese authorities approved Nokia's plan to sell its cell phone business to Microsoft.

The Chinese approval went smoothly, and there is no need for Microsoft to change its patent practices.  Microsoft is paying €5.4b ($7.4b) to take over Nokia, an Finnish telecoms company.  With its new acquisition, Microsoft may be planning to break into the mobile phone market to compete with Apple in another arena.  Source: Economic Times
