City law firms are in a race to upgrade their legaltech offerings with Clifford Chance and Clyde & Co both announcing new launches. Clifford Chance is looking to emulate tech initiatives by the Big Four with the creation of a new technology group which draws on a 400 lawyer team globally to provide advice and products for clients. Meanwhile Clyde & Co is the latest law firm to launch a data analytics lab to develop products and services for its clients. Joining forces with University College London, the lab will undertake projects with an emphasis on artificial intelligence - for example, predicting fraudulent claims. The move follows its earlier launch of Clyde Code which focused on advising insurers on blockchain and distributed ledger technologies.
