The firm has appointed Komal Gupta as Head of Innovation & Artificial Intelligence. Innovation has been identified as a key strategic driver by the partnership. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas had announced in January that it had signed an agreement with Canada based technology company Kira Systems, a leading machine learning software provider in the Artificial Intelligence space, India’s first law firm to deploy such a technology. The company said that the technology currently being piloted at the firm enhanced its delivery model to provide certain legal services more efficiently, quickly and accurately to its clients.

Drive firm's innovation strategy

Ms Komal will work with senior management to develop and drive the firm’s innovation strategy and will continue to be involved in a range of legal service delivery transformation initiatives, as the firm approaches the ‘business of law’ with a modern lens. ‘The firm’s innovation strategy is not simply about ticking boxes with technology, or following the crowd – it recognises that successful innovation initiatives involve people, culture, clients, and leadership,’ said managing partner, Cyril Shroff.

'Seasoned professional'

Ms Komal is a seasoned professional with more than 12 years of experience in the field of legal operations management, business development and regulatory compliance; and brings with her a proficiency in use of technology and process. Before joining the firm, she was Vice President at Integreon Managed Solutions. She will have New Delhi based disputes partner Amita Choudary Katragadda as her day-to-day ‘mentor’ who,  in addition to her legal practice, completed her MBA at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business where she engaged in a number of innovative legal service delivery ideas and design thinking.
