DLA Piper hires AIG deputy general counsel to boost insurance

Nicholas Kourides joins the firm's New York office in a move to strengthen its financial services division.

AIG deputy general counsel Nicholas Kourides has joined the DLA Piper's insurance practice as senior counsel in New York. Mr Kourides has over three decades of experience in senior in-house positions at AIG, American Express and Chase Bank.He brings significant experience in corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and divestitures, as well as cross-border matters and regulatory issues around the world.

Regulatory

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Kourides served as senior vice president and deputy general counsel for AIG with responsibility as AIG’s head of global regulatory and Federal Reserve supervision and general counsel for mergers and acquisitions. He received his J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law, where he has also been a lecturer in international banking and financial law for the last 24 years. He earned his B.A. from Princeton University.
