DoJ heavyweight to join Gibson Dunn in Washington

One of the top fraud officials in the US Department of Justice is set to join the Washington office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

Jim Pruitt

The firm has hired longtime federal prosecutor Patrick Stokes to join its partnership in Washington DC. Mr Stokes has bid farewell to a near 20-year career in federal prosecution that saw him most recently serve as senior deputy chief of the fraud section of the DoJ’s criminal division. Formerly, he was chief of the agency’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act unit and co-chief of its securities and financial fraud unit. ‘With his background leading two of the highest profile units at the DoJ, we are confident that Patrick will be a very strong addition to our already deep bench of more than 50 former federal prosecutors,’ commented Gibson Dunn white-collar defense and investigations practice co-chair Joseph Warin. He added that Mr Stokes would help elevate Gibson Dunn as the ‘leading choice’ for clients facing serious enforcement matters. He is expected to start at the firm in September.
