Dutch law firm claims secret services are tapping its lines

Amsterdam-based Prakken d'Oliveira has made a formal complaint to the home affairs minister Ronald Plasterk, claiming that its phone lines are being intercepted.

It believes that the domestic security agency AIVD is tapping its communications because it represented several clients who have been accused of extremism and terrorist offences. Michiel Pestman, a criminal lawyer in the firm, said: ‘Dutch law allows [the AIVD] to be involved in every form of telecommunications tapping, including tapping lawyers. Even if lawyers are no threat to public safety, the secret service can tap them.’  Source: Dutch news
