Europe a glittering prospect for Tiffany's new chief exec

Will the change of guard at Tiffany's herald a new focus on Europe for the brand? Incoming chief executive Frederic Cumenal, who takes over the reins next April, has hinted so.

The new CEO said in an interview with The Telegraph that 'In the past, Tiffany focused much of its energy on the American market.  Then it moved to Japan and Asia. But in Europe the brand has been kind of neglected.' Cumenal takes the chief executive’s seat on Michael Kowalski’s retirement next Spring.  He has long been steeped in the luxury markets – prior to joining the New York jeweller in 2011, Cumenal was chief executive of Moet & Chandon, where he has worked in various roles since 1995.

Credited for global expansion

In June Cumenal oversaw the opening of a three storey flagship Tiffany’s boutique in Paris, and according to the Financial Times, he is ‘widely credited for Tiffany’s global expansion efforts in multiple markets’.  As well as increasing its international reach, plans for the brand include taking it further upscale.Second quarter results saw global sales up seven per cent, helped by revamped stores and product offerings.
