EY to launch legal risk practice in January

The Big Four accountant has recruited artificial intelligence specialist Matthew Whalley, head of risk at Berwin Leighton Paisner, to head the London-based legal risk team.

Mr Whalley joins the accountancy firm in January as a director. He said that, since the financial crisis, 'financial services firms have been under increased scrutiny to map and manage their risk.'

EY's legal ambitions

Matthew Kellett, head of EY's financial services law team, said: 'Systematic assessment and mitigation of legal risk is a relatively new area and combines EY’s legal ambitions with its proven expertise in the risk assessment and mitigation arenas.'
