Female young lawyers dominate NZ legal statistics

The New Zealand Law Society has revealed that 71 per cent of female lawyers are under 44 years of age.

The figures, which were compiled from the 2013 Census data, also revealed that 43 per cent of male lawyers were under 44 years of age. Meanwhile women make up 46 per cent of all New Zealand lawyers. The Law Society data also shows that whilst women make up 57 per cent of lawyers who have been in practice for 20 years or less,they made up only two per cent of lawyers who were in practice for 40 years of more.
