Former executive of bust NYC law firm convicted of fraud

A former executive of a now bankrupt major New York law firm has been convicted of fraud with charges upheld that he hid the struggling firm's finances before it collapsed in 2012.

The former Chief Financial officer of Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, Joel Sanders, was found guilty yesterday of securities fraud, scheme to defraud and conspiracy.  According to reports in The New York Times another former executive on trial, Stephen DiCarmine, was acquitted of the charges. The news follows almost two years after an earlier criminal case against the firm's most senior executives ended in mistrial.

Hayday

During it hayday, the law firm boasted almost 3,000 employees globally with its roots dating back to the early 1900s. It also had some ullustrious partners including former Manhattan district attorney, New York governor and Republican presidential nominee Thomas E Dewey.
