Freshfields the latest to sign AI deal with Kira Systems

After trialling a variety of different AI legal platforms, the Magic Circle firm is sticking with Kira Systems.

Freshfields has penned a deal to collaborate with Canadian artificial intelligence software developer Kira Systems, following in the footsteps of other firms like DLA Piper and Clifford Chance which also have active deals with the company. Freshfields reportedly test-ran several different legal AI providers across its officers, but opted to stick with Kira after seeing the results of its trial in the firm’s Manchester office: ‘[Unlike] other machine learning software, it allows Freshfields’ lawyers to train the algorithm to meet their specific needs,’ said a statement from the firm. Kira specializes in contract review and analysis but can be applied to a range of more specific tasks, such as conducting due diligence and supporting compliance.
