The new technology assessment project will review every single team and practice group in the firm based on a range of ‘digital fitness’ criteria for a report to be released early next year. Aside from measuring the firm’s uptake of technology across various areas, the assessment will also measure the tech know-how of lawyers and staff. The goal of the assessment will be to work towards constant improvement, explains digital information and legal systematics team head Derek Southall: ‘This isn’t about looking negatively at where someone is in terms of their digital knowledge or capabilities but measuring how fast they’re evolving and moving forward,’ he said. ‘We think it’s incumbent on every group and business service team to improve every year. You need that visibility on how people are performing digitally, so we’re going to start measuring it.’
