Group of GCs urge US government to aid fight back against cyber threat

General counsel and the chief legal officers at NASDAQ, General Electric, Marsh & McLennan and 29 other leading companies have signed a joint letter to the Obama administration and Congress - supporting data-sharing in the battle against hackers.

The 32 lawyers wrote to Congress leaders, urging them to help with the sharing of cyber threat indicators by introducing the needed privacy and liability protections. Peter Beshar, general counsel of Marsh & McLennan Companies, said: '....the business community wanted to step up to signal its support for the sharing of cyber threat indicators in order to expedite the detection of emerging cyber threats.'
