Mr Bradbury joined Herbert Smith Freehills as a partner last year after more than a decade working as an associate with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Now, Allen & Overy has confirmed that Mr Bradbury will be returning to the Magic Circle by joining the firm’s London non-contentious financial services regulation practice early next year. Mr Bradbury’s practice focuses on financial markets and he has extensive experience advising financial institution clients on regulatory matters, including acting for TSB in its separation from Lloyds Banking Group and the separation of Williams & Glyn from The Royal Bank of Scotland.

Key practice area

The hire by Allen & Overy comes six months after the firm lost former financial regulatory head Bob Penn to US-based rival Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. A spokesperson for the firm said of Mr Bradbury’s hire: ‘Building our regulatory practice is key to maintaining our ability to provide top-quality cross-border advice and expertise to our financial institution clients, particularly in light of the raft of regulation that has dominated the industry since the global financial crisis.’ Welcoming Mr Bradbury to Allen & Overy’s finreg practice will be existing partners Damian Carolan, Etay Katz and Kate Sumpter.
