Indian lawyers live in luxury as firms compete for talent

Promotions are happening more quickly and pay rises in many firms are between 12 and 25 per cent, according to sources interviewed by The Economic Times. The Mumbai-based managing partner of a mid-sized firm told The Times that lawyers are waiting to decide their next steps until they receive their annual bonuses and can compare them to offers from other firms.

Senior middle level lawyers

Firms are 'upping compensation levels and giving quicker career advances to retain senior middle level talent' said Balanand Menon, head of legal consulting at legal search and consulting firm Vahura. Many others also emphasise the importance of a stimulating working environment.
