Lawyers play leading role in clear up of Toshiba profits scandal

Toshiba is including a lawyer in its six-person revitalisation committee whose aim is to prevent further improprieties occurring after recent revelations about the over-statement of profits for six years.

So far, numerous lawyers have been involved in the investigation into the mis-statement of the accounting results at the giant consumer electronics business. These have included a former superintending prosecutor at the Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office (Koichi Ueda) as well as lawyers from the Marunouchi Sogo Law Office, the Asahi Law Office, the Kaneko & Iwamatsu Law Office, the Harada Kokusai Legal Professional Corporation and the Shinbashi Toranomon Law Office.
