Mr Berman will be joining Quinn Emanuel’s London office as head of regulatory and financial services after almost seven years with Macfarlanes. The hire will bolster Quinn Emanuel’s existing white-collar and investigations practice in the City – =the firm’s fastest-growing area, according to managing partner John Quinn: ‘David’s financial services regulatory expertise and credentials perfectly complement our leading investigations and white-collar practice – an area of continued strategic focus and growth,’ he said of the hire.

New challenges

Mr Berman’s start date at Quinn Emanuel has not yet been confirmed, while his successor as head of financial services at Macfarlanes also remains unconfirmed. Macfarlanes senior partner Charles Martin said the firm was sorry to see Mr Berman go: ‘He is leaving for a very different platform and new challenges. We wish him well.’ Mr Berman is the fifth lateral hire to Quinn Emanuel’s London office this year, bringing its total city headcount to 19 partners.
