Marketing is key for smaller law firms

Three in four law firms have invested in marketing and business development to grow their businesses.

ALM Legal Intelligence and J Johnson Executive Search jointly conducted the “Small Firms, Big Marketing” survey.  They found that firms with between 40-200 lawyers need to gain a competitive advantage with marketing the key.  JJohnson president Jennifer Scalzi said: “Partners at small and midsize firms recognize the importance of pro-active external marketing, and one notable way they are responding is by investing in marketing professionals.”  Even if they do not have a full department, 90 per cent of survey respondents said they have staff working full-time at marketing.
