Microsoft to spruce up eDiscovery tools

The IT giant has just bought Equivio, the Israel-based business, giving it a stronger footing in the market for software that reads and sort legal documents.

Deloitte and the US Department of Justice are among Equivio's clients. The reader and sorter lets users go through documents, sorting by theme and duplicates. It also enables the user to highlight unique data. 

In the months ahead

Rajesh Jha, corporate vice president of Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook said that the software would be used in the eDiscovery facilities of Office 365, saying it will use 'Equivio’s machine learning technology to make these vital tools even more intelligent and easy to use in the months ahead'.
