Minter Ellison strengthens Perth disputes team

The law firm has appointed a leading Western Australian disputes specialist to head up its Perth disputes group.

Minter Ellison has appointed a new head of of its Western Australia disputes team. Kevin Stewart joined the firm today from Lavan Legal where he was senior partner. Mr Stewart has more than 30 years particularly in large mining, resources and energy, and infrastructure sector disputes for global and national resources and oil & gas companies.His dispute resolution experience includes running large and significant ICC and ICSID arbitrations in Australia and across the Asia Pacific for international and Asian-based clients.

Getting the right talent

Commenting on the appointment, Minter Ellison's Managing Partner Western Australia, Adam Handley, said: 'Since opening our doors in Perth in 2011, we've focused on getting the right talent and mix of capabilities in this office to deliver on our vision to be our clients' best partner.'  Earlier this year, Will Harrison joined the firm from DLA Hong Kong to spearhead the region's insurance offering. Throughout Australia and Asia, Minter Ellison dispute resolution team has 200-plus professionals, including more than 50 partners.

Mr Stewart was a former partner of Lavan Legal – where he held the position of senior partner, commercial litigation – and before that was the founder and the principal of a leading boutique disputes firm, Maxim Litigation Consultants.
