Financial statements released by the Justice Department reveal that Robert Mueller gave up partnership at WilmerHale - where he earned $3.4 million since the beginning of 2016 - to take the job as special counsel. He also made thousands of dollars from paid speaking engagements with engagements at Goldman Sachs, Citi and Ford Motor Co including $52,000 for a speaking engagement at Mexican bank Banamex. Other lawyers on Mr Mueller’s team were also highly paid. James Quarles, also from WilmerHale, earned more than $5.8 million as a partner whilst Jeannie Rhee, another partner, was paid more than $2 million. A third WilmerHaler, Aaron Zebley, earned more than $1.4 million.
