New 24/7 response app helps to handle cyberattacks

Mobile app providing clients with fast practical legal support to mitigate risk following cyber attack launched by Clifford Chance.

International law firm Clifford Chance has launched Clifford Chance cyber assist, a mobile app which is a first port of call for clients in the event of an attack.

Complex web

Available to download from Google and Apple app stores, Clifford Chance cyber assist takes users through the complex web of requirements that regulators around the world expect businesses to take in the critical hours and days following an attack. Developed by Clifford Chance’s lawyers and technologists, the app connects businesses with a global team of Clifford Chance cyber specialists around the world at the touch of a button, day or night. In addition, the app provides users with an overview of the cyber landscape across multiple jurisdictions, with information on the latest laws and regulations across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, the UK and US. This information is drawn from Clifford Chance reports, including ‘Cyber Security: what regulators are saying around the globe’ the firm's recent global legal and regulatory cyber briefing.

Cyber emergency call

Jonathan Kewley, co-head of Clifford Chance's tech group says ‘cyber is now a legal risk, not just an IT issue. Cyber attacks are on the agenda of every government, board and law maker globally. The risks for businesses are unprecedented and growing, and fines for failing to respond correctly to an attack are eyewatering.’ Mr Kewley added  the firm’s cyber assist acts as ‘a cyber emergency call.’ Clifford Chance joins a group of firms now offering cyber apps, including Taylor Wessing’s ‘TW:Cyber Response’ and  Eversheds’ BreachLawWATCH.
