New York bar exam goes national

Lawyers will be able to practise in a number of states after the changes.

New York bar exam is updated

Lawyers in New York who take the local bar examinations will be able to work in a number of states, following a move by New York State to change its bar exam requirements. The state is adopting a test used in 15 states,  the Uniform Bar Exam, which drops the state component of the test in  July 2016. A separate New York law course is recommended for those practising New York law but with 15,200 people taking the New York Bar Exam from across the state, the US and the world, the move was taken after recognition by the legal profession that change was long overdue.
