Sources have reported that merger negotiations have been taking place between the two firms for several months and have now reached advances stages, with an announcement from the firms on their prospective tie-up expected imminently. Reportedly underpinning the proposed union is Norton Rose Fulbright’s interest in Chadbourne’s renowned project finance group and Chadbourne’s flailing position in the New York market and shrinking size. Neither firm has as-yet issued a public comment about the discussions or the proposed form of the merged firm.
