The new recruits from Sidley include six partners, three of which will soon be based in NRF’s first ever Northern California office alongside four other Sidley lawyers. A further eight lawyers, including two partners, are headed to NRF’s office in New York, while another two lawyers, one of whom is a partner, will join the firm’s team in Washington DC. Combined, the new batch of recruits represent was was until this week Sidley Austin’s entire US-based public finance division.

Big names depart

Among the defectors are former Sidley co-head of public finance Larry Bauer and fellow co-head Jerry McGovern, who is departing Sidley after 32 years as a member of the firm’s partnership. The new recruits raise NRF’s public finance headcount in the US to 50 lawyers and expand the scope of its expertise. ‘Their experience in securitisations, healthcare, finance and municipal restructurings in particular will enhance our firm’s public finance capabilities,’ said US boss Bob Dransfield.
