Canadian corporate lawyers worked on 124 debt and equity financings in Q3, a 'surprisingly robust third quarter' according to The Financial Post which put together the listings.

The work level is up on Q3 2013 even if it is down on the 154 deals that firms advised on in Q2 of 2014. Osler came top in terms of deal values - while Blakes came first by number of deals. It worked on 13. Other firms which feature highly include Hoskin Harcourt LLP, Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP and Norton Rose Fulbright.

Eric Moncik, a Blakes partner based in Toronto, said: ‘Typically the third quarter is the slowest quarter of the year, yet we saw a high level of activity in both debt and equity markets. We were busy in all three months. The stable of issuer clients we have were active, particularly in the equity market.’ Source: Financial Post
