The survey, based on research with 1,169 participants, also shows that there was a 15.3 per cent increase in the salaries of principal law firm administrators. Meanwhile managers of paralegals saw their salaries go up 12.6 per cent in 2014.

New roles

The Association expects the admin function to be broken down into a broader range of specialisations - and has added on 15 new positions for the 2014 research. Ten of these are for managers and the other 15 are for staff. The research also takes a detailed look at many parts of the compensation package. It has found, for instance, that firms that offered medical cover gave a subsidy of between 75 per cent and 99 per cent of the premiums in the majority of cases(56 per cent). Source: ALA
