Global law firm Pinsent Masons has become the latest firm to jump into the rapidly-expanding Turkish market with the launch of an office in Istanbul.

Istanbul: Pinsents to enter Turkish market

The new office will be led by Noyan Goksu, former of counsel at Turkish firm Herguner Bilgen Ozeke, reports Legal Week. Practicing rules in the jurisdiction mean that the firm has brokered a deal which will see Mr Goksu create his own practice, which Pinsents will enter into in a joint venture arrangement. The deal is expected to be given approval by April.

Potential for growth

‘Over the past year we have made considerable progress in expanding our network,’ said senior partner Chris Mullen. ‘We have a clear focus on investment into those global sectors where we see client demand and the greatest potential for growth, so opening in Istanbul and targeting the infrastructure sector is a natural next step.’
Magic circle firm Allen & Overy has also established an association with Istanbul firm Gedik & Eraksoy after initially launching a UK law practice in 2011, while Baker & McKenzie, Clifford Chance and McDermott Will & Emery all have a presence in the country.
