Banking and finance head Hugo Rosa Ferreira will be in charge of the office which will focus on work involving Portugal or Portuguese-speaking countries such as  Angola and Mozambique.  Mr Rosa Ferreira said that the firm wanted 'to be closer to our clients and to the international firms we work with regularly. According to Hugo Rosa Ferreira, the United Kingdom is the third largest European investor in Portugal after France and Spain and British companies have a growing interest in the Angolan and Mozambican markets, principally in the areas of energy, natural resources, mining and construction. Portuguese exports to the UK have grown over the last three years, a trend that is expected to continue, particularly in machinery, clothing and footwear, transport equipment and chemicals, he added. The office will not practise English law.
