Pussy Riot lawyer to pay compensation to client

Lawyer Violetta Volkova, who represented Yekaterina Samutsevich, one of the women sentenced to jail in August 2012, has been ordered to pay the equivalent of US$563 to her former client.

Ms Samutsevich - whose sentence was suspended in October 2012 - filed a suit against Ms Volkova, claiming ‘moral harm’ on the grounds that the lawyer had posted unkind remarks about her on social networks. The recent decision from the Elektrostal city court in the Moscow region of Russia will, however, now be appealed by the lawyer. Source: Rapsi News
