QC takes Oz Law Council presidency

Michael Colbran QC has become the president of the Law Council of Australia (LCA), replacing former president Joe Catanzariti.

Australia: new Law Council president

Melbourne-based barrister Mr Colbran is already the head of the Australian Bar Association (ABA), reports Lawyers Weekly.
He replaces Mr Catanzariti after he vacated the post six months early to take up a vice-president position at the Fair Work Commission.
Mr Colbran said his immediate priorities include advocating in relation to key policy issues in the lead-up to September’s federal election and releasing the findings of the National Attrition and Reengagement Study.
