Saudi Arabia slowly increases female lawyer intake

More female lawyers are registering in Saudi but there is still a long way to go.

The number of female lawyers in Saudi Arabia is growing, the latest figures have revealed. Women currently make up under five per cent of the profession in the Kingdom. However, registered female lawyers have increased by 29 per cent compared to 13 per cent for men. There are also 1931 women law graduates currently under training and 8766 males, according to the Authority of the Saudi Lawyers (ASL). The total number of the licensed Saudi lawyers has reached 4816, consisting of 4607 men and 209 women. The ASL also said 23,000 visits were made to the authority's website with around 2.6 million tweets posted.
