Seyfarth Shaw chair starts to tweet as other BigLaw heads shun Twitter

Stephen Poor may not think his nine tweets are particularly extraordinary but the fact that he tweets at all sets him at odds with his counterparts in the most profitable 15 US law firms.

Seyfarth Shaw is famed for its advances in IT - and, by beginning to tweet this month, chair Stephen Poor has pushed the barriers back on another frontier facing BigLaw. Research from the Business of Law section of Bloomberg shows that there are no obvious traces of Twitter accounts for any of the chairs or managing partners of the most profitable 15 US firms.

Exception at Orrick

Mr Poor's first tweets included news of a partner weekend away 'to work on the acceleration of our innovation efforts' and of an award won by his colleagues in the employment team. Another exception to the no-tweet stance is Mitch Zulkie, chair of Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe who is regularly sending out the 140-character messages. Sources: @stephen_poor and ABA
