Simmons & Simmons says the acquisition means Wavelength will introduce new ways of delivering smarter solutions for clients that draw on a diverse blend of legal, data, design and engineering skills from in, and outside, the legal profession.

Clear commitment

Led by co-founders Peter Lee (ceo) and Drew Winlaw (coo and chief legal engineer) the Wavelength team will operate from offices in London and Cambridge and will have an international presence. As one of the first law firms to acquire a legal engineering business, Simmons & Simmons says it is showing a clear commitment to changing the legal sector for the better by embracing technology and developing more dynamic ways of working. Wavelength is a regulated firm of legal engineers, using data engineering and creative design to deliver legal sector change, aimed at transforming how each legal professional, business and member of society experiences legal process. Jeremy Hoyland, managing partner at Simmons & Simmons, commented “This is an exciting opportunity for the firm and one that will give our clients a clear advantage. It demonstrates that we are serious about delivering smarter solutions for our clients and that we are driving change for the better in the legal market.”

Reimagining delivery

Mr Lee explained, “The potential to deploy data science, technology and design to reimagine the delivery of legal services is huge. We are extremely proud that Wavelength has led the way with our outstanding legal engineering business. Simmons & Simmons has the reach and expertise to allow us to realise our ambitions to continue to grow our world class offering and to positively impact every legal professional business and member of society. We are very excited about the next phase of our journey. Simmons & Simmons has the international footprint that will give us access to a substantial new client base and to long-term embedded relationships. We are proud of the business we have built and the team we have grown but now is the time to expand and open up new opportunities."
