Six law firms dominate Indian recruitment

Over half of Indian graduates going from the top nine law schools into law firms are heading for Amarchand Mangaldas and five other leading practices.

Research by Bar and Bench shows that 58% of those joining law firms were recruited by these firms. Listed in order of numbers of graduates taken on in 2014, these law firms are: Amarchand, Luthra & Luthra, Khaitan & Co, Trilegal and (tying) AZB and Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan. The Bar and Bench research is a large sample, rather than being a comprehensive review - so the actual figures could be somewhat different.

Outsourcers

The law firms are taking 36% of graduates. About 20% are joining the civil service. In-house accounts for 12% and outsourcers are taking about 7%. Pangea 3 is the biggest recruiter among the outsourcers, followed by Quis Lex. Source: Bar and Bench
