Skadden Arps advises on nearly half of inversion moves

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom is understood to have advised on 12 out of 28 inversion schemes proposed since 2013, including the latest one in which Pfizer would relocate its head office out of the US and into Ireland.

Skadden Arps has been working on the lucrative area for five years, gaining experience in the process that sees tax costs fall as businesses relocate their HQs to low-tax environments such as Ireland. Thomson Reuters data shows that Skadden Arps has worked on 12 of these deals in two years. 

Dublin deal

Skadden is now working on the Pfizer takeover of Dublin-based pharma business Allergan, a deal which would have the advantage of enabling the giant pharma business to set its head office in the low-tax location of Ireland. Source: ABA
