Society backs online education resource

The Law Society of England and Wales has backed a new free education resource aimed at future lawyers.

The Law Society has teamed up with The Lawyer Portal (TLP), an online platform providing aspiring lawyers with access to material created by professionals.

Enhanced resources

The partnership between TLP and the Law Society will enhance the online resource which features contributions from professional bodies and law firms, and houses hundreds of pages of free guides created by experienced lawyers and legal education professionals. Law Society president Christina Blacklaws said, 'free online resources that are solely dedicated to the world of law are rare. This collaboration will bring together our unique positions within the market. TLP already provides valuable content regarding the pre-qualification stages. The Law Society will deliver support and guidance for the post-qualification career phase. This combination of resources will be highly valuable to those considering a career in the solicitors’ profession.'

Diversity benefit

Ms Blacklaws also said the availability of free online information will help encourage people from more diverse backgrounds to enter the profession, 'this is particularly important in light of the forthcoming changes to the process of qualifying as a solicitor.' Rachel Davis of TLP added, 'partnering with The Law Society is incredibly exciting. We’re passionate about providing trustworthy help and guidance to those considering a career in law. The Law Society’s official support will allow us to offer even more resources and opportunities to a greater pool of people.'
