Five members of the US armed forces have sued President Donald Trump and the army over the proposed ban on transgender people servince in the military. The service members, who are suing anonymously, say that they disclosed their gender orientation relying on the existing policy that permits them to serve openly. The lawsuit was filed by Washington-based law firms WilmerHale and Boston-based Foley Hoag alongside the National Centre for Lesbian Rights. President Trump’s move would violate the US Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection and would also deprive them of their military careers without due process, they claim.
