Police have laid 75 charges against Meerai Cho and say they expect to lay another 300 against her. A total number of 141 potential victims have been identified. Ms Cho had been acting as an escrow agent, holding the buyers’ deposits under the requirements of the Condominium Act.

Land sold

However, the buyers have discovered that the land they thought they were buying has been sold, the developer has disappeared and their money has gone. Speaking of the investors, Detective Constable Chris Devereaux said: ‘This was a condo development, they were dealing with a lawyer at this time, and the purpose of the trust account is to hold the monies in trust, they are not supposed to be moved.’ Source: The Globe and Mail
