Troutman Sanders opens doors to second group of K&L Gates defectors

The 600-lawyer firm Troutman Sanders which opened an office in Charlotte last May with four K&L Gates corporate and real estate lawyers is now taking on another four from K&L, this time specialising in M&A.

The new group is led by two partners, Kevin Christmas and Chad Warpula. The office in Charlotte, North Carolina had grown to 19 lawyers after the first K&L group helped found it. Stephen Lewis, Troutman Sanders managing partner, said: 'Our plan for the Charlotte office has always been to feature a full-service practice, and the arrival of this corporate group moves us closer to the realization of that objective.' 

Gateway to China

Troutman is also opening a new office in San Francisco - and plans to do so on 1 April. The firm is in a pahse of rapid growht, having recently also announced two new hires in Atlanta. Commenting on the San Francisco office, chair Robert W Webb Jr, said: 'As the United States business gateway to China, San Francisco will provide a unique and valuable link to our thriving offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong to support and enhance the rapid growth of inbound and outbound work for our clients between our US and China offices'. Source: Troutman Sanders
