Two Philadelphia firms create nationwide mergers

The two law firms in the city are merging to create nationwide presences.

Ballard Spahr of Philadelphia and Lindquist & Vennum of Minneapolis will join forces on 1 January 2018  whilst Philadelphia law firm, Saul Ewing completes its merger with Illinois and Florida law firm Arnstein & Lehr. Ballard Spahr's merger with Lindquist creates 650 lawyers in 15 offices nationwide under the Ballard Spahr name. The 500 lawyer Ballard Spahr specialises in litigation, business finance, real estate, intellectual property, and public finance whilst Lindquist & Vennum has 170 attorneys practicing corporate finance, transactional and litigation services from offices in Minnesota, Colorado, and South Dakota.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia law firm, Saul Ewing and Florida law firm Arnstein & Lehr will have 400 lawyers in 15 offices in locations including Boston, Miami and Chicago. Saul Ewing is known for its practice in higher education, insurance, life sciences and energy industries whilst Arnstein & Lehr divides its practice into five main areas -  business, litigation, local government, tax and estate planning and real estate.
