The certificate that students receive will be one of only five available for lawyers in the US, according to the University. It is also considering offering one for non-lawyers which would be the first of its kind in the US. Courses will focus on 'cybersecurity and national security law, cyberspace law, social media and criminal law, digital evidence, data privacy and protection of children from online pornography'.

No longer fiction

Susan Brenner, Professor of Law and Technology at the University, says: 'Cyber attacks on United States government and infrastructure by foreign nations, terrorists, rogue actors and hackers are no longer science fiction, but reality.  Cyber attacks on United States power plants are now routine.'
