University to give legal advice on AirAsia

The mayor of Surabaya, the departure point for crashed flight QZ8501, has offered to deliver advice through local academics to grieving families after it crashed into the Java Sea on 28 December with 162 people aboard.

Mayor Tri Rismaharini said: 'I don’t understand law in the insurance world. That’s why I asked insurance law experts from Airlangga University to assist the victims’ families....I want AirAsia to pay to the victims’ families thoroughly.' The academics will help the relatives read through the insurance contract relating to the flight and check the offered insurance values. She said that people from outside Surabaya would also be helped, if they wished it.

Misgivings

One relative, Ronny Tanubun, welcomed the move and said: 'I conveyed my misgivings to Bu Risma after receiving the calculated insurance payments from AirAsia several days ago.' Source: Jakarta Post
