US legal sector reaches five year peak

The US legal sector now accounts for 1.139m people - the highest peak it has reached since February 2009.

In August, some 3,300 jobs were added to the sector which includes legal consultants, patent agents, notaries and others as well as lawyers and paralegals. The exact figure is given as 1,139,900 by the US Labor Department. It compares to 1,140,600 in February 2009. Sources: Wall St Journal and ABA
