The firm made the move on the restructuring veteran lawyer who, prior to joining Goldman in 2007, had headed up the European restructuring group at another US firm, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. Prior to that, he founded the practice at Clifford Chance.  A 2013 ranking in The Deal put Weil as the second-best restructuring law firm. The appointment is especially timely as European companies are refinancing because of the recent economic downturn.  Weil executive partner Barry Wolf said: “When you get someone this talented, it always makes sense, no matter how strong you are, to make the move.”  Source: New York Times
